Welcome to Weekend Reading friends. Tough week hearing about the events in Dallas as I write this post.  Heartbreaking and very, very sad news and world we live in…
Earlier this week I started yet another giveaway on my site.  Check out my review of Loonie to Toonie and enter for your chance to win a copy in the coming week.   I also revisited some assumptions about our financial freedom journey – I think it’s good to challenge your assumptions every now and then.
Last but not least, a big thanks to Canadian MoneySaver for putting my article about Getting Wealthy Eventually on the cover of their July/August edition.  A really nice honour and I look forward to working with them again to host a webinar in the coming months.
Enjoy these articles from the personal finance blogosphere.  Have a good summer weekend.

Everyone’s got yellow fever for turmericA turmeric latte. (Photograph by Liam Mogan)
Growing up in an Indian home, if Preena Chauhan ever mentioned she might be coming down with a cold or a sore throat, the first thing her mother would do was reach for the turmeric. A spoonful of the powder, derived from the root of the Curcuma longa plant, would get mixed with a bit of black pepper and honey for her to eat, to nip the cold in the bud. “You looked to your spice box as your medicine chest to put these concoctions together,” Chauhan says. Juice companies are giving turmeric front-and-centre real estate on their labels. The Oxley, a British pub in Toronto’s upscale Yorkville neighbourhood, has a turmeric-infused gin on its drinks menu…

UEFA’s projected tournament finances published Friday showed total revenue of 1.93 billion euros ($2.13 billion) for the expanded 24-team tournament.

Four years ago, UEFA’s profit was 593.7 million euros (then $724 million) from its most lucrative competition, according to its financial accounts for that year.
UEFA leaders, including Theodoridis and senior vice-president Angel Maria Villar, praised Michel Platini, the European football body’s outgoing president who will serve a FIFA ban from official duty until 2019…
