  Not much news out today other than the huge news about the new Aeroplan program. I decided to take more of a spread apart approach rather than post a dozen articles as once. It also gives me some more time to hear from our readers and take their perspective on the program into account.  It’s hard to believe it has been three years now since Air Canada announced they weren’t going to renew their partnership with Aeroplan, which at the time was owned by Aimia and were set to create their own brand new frequent flyer program. Without going into all the nitty gritty of what transpired (if you are interested in the complete background check out The Air Canada Aeroplan Saga – All the resources you need) over the span of a many months  after that Air Canada along with TD, CIBC and Visa ended up buying Aeroplan from Aimia but they still promised a new program by July 2020. Now with three years of behind the scenes work the program is here. The majority of the details of the program have been revealed today and it will officially launch on November 8. It’s still called Aeroplan but with a new logo to better match its ownership by Air Canada and it really is, for the most part, a new loyalty program. Consumers are told to build up a credit history through the responsible use of credit cards, but is there a point where you have too many open accounts? It comes down to your personal financial habits and how you use the payment capabilities that cards provide.

When reviewing your credit report, you’ll see a list of your open accounts and payment history. That includes things like personal loans, student loans, cell phone bills, mortgages, and yes—credit cards. Companies calculate your credit score based on several factors, including your credit utilization ratio, age of credit, payment history, credit mix, and credit inquires.

HSBC’s current offer for their World Elite Mastercard has been out since March and we have learned it will be changed back to their standard offer on August 18. This means you still have a few days to apply for the HSBC World Elite Mastercard and get up to 60,000 bonus HSBC Rewards Points along with having the first year $149 annual fee waived on the primary card.  The bonus is awarded as follows:20,000 Point Welcome Bonus on your first purchase40,000 when you spend $5,000 in the first 180 days The 60,000 points once achieved are worth $300 in travel rewards but this card isn’t just a travel points card, it is actually a Hybrid Card.
