AIR MILES Mega Miles Event: Earn up to 1,000 Bonus Reward Miles for shopping at multiple sponsors until September 10 The annual AIR MILES Mega Miles event kicked off today and presents a really nice bonus mile earning opportunity. If you meet the requirement of using Mega Miles coupons at 3 or 5 or more sponsors you’ll be awarded with 300 to 1,000 Reward Miles over and above the base miles and coupon bonus miles awarded. This promotion runs until September 10. The overall bonus miles offers are the same as last version of this promotion but still lower than seen in 2015 through 2018 As was introduced in 2018,  AIR MILES still gives you two levels of bonuses, you can make it to only 3 sponsors and get a lower bonus of 300 miles or still go for 5 or more to get 1,000 bonus miles. The offers from the participating sponsors do have varying validity dates so be sure you check those to make sure you can earn them. For example, the HBC offer for Alberta is only valid August 13-19.Here is the cheapest way we found to earn the top bonus simply by looking at all the details on the coupons (Alberta region) would be as follows:Spend $10 at Shell (5 Bonus Miles coupon)Spend $35+ on jeans, graphic tees or uniforms at the Children’s Place (15 Bonus Miles coupon)Redeem 95 Cash Miles for $10 off a purchase at Rona, Safeway Liquor, Sobeys Liqour (25-30 bonus miles coupon)Register for the first time to convert HBC Rewards Points to AIR MILES (30 bonus miles)Spend $25 on parts or service at High River Toyota or Davis Chevrolet (2x-3x miles)That’s $70 in spending to earn the 1,000 Bonus Mega Miles Miles (or as little $10 for 3 sponsors to get 300 bonus miles) but then you have to add in your base amount miles plus the coupon bonuses for an additional miles…

Air Canada is Making Changes to the Aeroplan Program
Air Canada’s relationship with Aeroplan has been evolving recently. First, they announced ending their partnership with Aeroplan and building their own program. After that, the news broke that Air Canada purchased Aeroplan with plans to revamp it completely. Now we finally have a chance to look at the new changes Air Canada is making to the Aeroplan Program, and we’re excited. From changes to fuel surcharges to better Aeroplan cards, Aeroplan is rolling out a host of updates that we think will change the program for the better.
When to expect the new Aeroplan program
Aeroplan has spent the last several months completely overhauling their miles program and building a digital customer loyalty portal that can compete with any other points or miles system currently on the market. That said, these types of overhauls take time to roll out, and you shouldn’t expect massive changes overnight.
The new Aeroplan program won’t go live until Nov. 8, 2020, and it won’t happen all at once. Instead, the change will go out in stages, with the full hard launch expected to be complete by the first quarter of 2021…

The Good, The Bad and The Ugly of the new Air Canada Aeroplan program Many moons ago we used to run a series here on Rewards Canada called Redemption Stories The Good, The Bad and The Ugly. The series had our readers tell us stories about redeeming points or miles from various loyalty programs from the good to the bad all the way down to the ugly. So why not resurrect here with the new Aeroplan program as it is only fitting since Aeroplan was the first program featured in the series way back in March 2012. You can read that original post here. The original series focused on redemption so I’ll bend our own rules with the return of the series covering all aspects of the new Aeroplan program and I’ll provide what we think is Good, Bad and Ugly. Ultimately once the program is up and running in its new form I’ll reach to the Rewards Canada community to have a reader based version after we all get a chance to experience the new program. The GoodNo more carrier/fuel surcharges Say goodbye to paying hundreds of dollars in extra fees when flying on Air Canada, Lufthansa or any number of other Aeroplan airline partners who had those fees added to their reward flights…
