Review: The new CIBC Costco Mastercard. Is it really the best credit card to use at Costco? As of March 4, 2022, Costco has officially made the switch from the Capital One Costco Mastercard to the CIBC Costco Mastercard. Here’s what you should know if you’re considering this card—or have automatically been switched over from the Capital One card. Since opening its first Canadian warehouse store in 1985, Costco has become a staple shopping destination for people who want deep discounts on bulk buys. The catch? Costco requires a membership for you to shop there. (It’s $60 for a Gold Membership and $120 for an Executive Membership.) Once you have one, you can reap the benefits of the low prices it offers on everything from groceries, homewares, furniture, electronics and prescriptions to vacations, gas, tires and more. As you can imagine, the savings can be significant.

Here’s your Rewards Canada Daily update! Your near daily dose of loyalty program, credit card and travel news, bonuses, deals and more. Today we released an update to our review of the MBNA Alaska Airlines World Elite Mastercard. The card was first reviewed on Rewards Canada in 2013 and I have to apologize to our readers as I don’t think did an full fledged update on it since then so some of it was out of date. Now that’s all fixed and the review is fresh for 2022 and I promise to keep an eye on it and update more frequently as required. The card itself isn’t well known to most Canadians but is somewhat of a hidden gem and a favourite in the points and miles community. Read our review here to find out why!—  Keeping on the topic of reviews we have a new landing page / table of contents page for Flight Reviews published on Rewards Canada. This follows in the footsteps of separate landing pages we launched earlier this year for Lounge Reviews and Credit Card Reviews. All that’s left on the list is to make a separate page for Hotel Reviews which should be done soon…

Big News! Mastercard Canada switching lounge access from LoungeKey to DragonPass (which means access to Plaza Premium lounges!)Big news in the world of credit card lounge access! I was visiting the Mastercard Canada website today and noticed a change to the lounge access section for the World and World Elite Mastercards. No longer does the website state Mastercard Airport Experiences by LoungeKey, instead it now has Mastercard Travel Pass provided by DragonPass.   This is big news for us here in Canada as if you recall from 2021 there were changes in lounge access due to Plaza Premium cutting most of their ties with Priority Pass. Priority Pass just happened to be from the same company running LoungeKey which meant Canadian Mastercard cards lost access to all Canadian Plaza Premium lounges. When Plaza Premium announced they were leaving Priority Pass they revealed a new partnership with Dragonpass and lo and behold who has Mastercard Canada partnered with now? Dragonpass instead of Collinson (who runs LoungeKey/Priority Pass). For some background info here is our coverage from last year:Major News: Priority Pass and LoungeKey losing access to most Plaza Premium lounges worldwide Sorry for the bad news – It is now confirmed that Canadian Plaza Premium lounges are leaving Priority Pass & LoungeKey And sure enough when you register your World Elite Mastercard on the new Mastercard Travel Pass site and then search for lounges, Plaza Premium lounges do show up as options:A selection of the lounges in TorontoThe program runs the same as LoungeKey which means by having an eligible World or World Elite Mastercard you get free access to the Travel Pass program (normally programs like these charge an annual fee so that’s what it gets you) and then you pay a discounted fee for each lounge visit…
