Japan’s benchmark Nikkei 225 index surged 1.6 per cent to 14,382.77 and Hong Kong’s Hang Seng added 0.9 per cent to 21,614.36. South Korea’s Kospi climbed 0.4 per cent to 1,915.16 and Australia’s S&P/ASX 200 rose 0.6 per cent to 5,160.10.
