TORONTO – Some of the most active companies traded Friday on the Toronto Stock Exchange and the TSX Venture Exchange:
Toronto Stock Exchange (14,205.72 down 4.65 points):
Athabasca Oil Corp. (TSX:ATH). Oil and gas. Up 90 cents, or 11.48 per cent, to $8.74 on 7.6 million shares. The company says the Fort McKay First Nation has agreed to remove its objections to regulatory approval of the Dover Commercial project northwest of Fort McMurray
Cequence Energy Ltd. (TSX:CQE). Oil and gas. Up 23 cents, or 11.98 per cent, to $2.15 on 6.5 million shares.
Rubicon Minerals Corp. (TSX:RMX). Miner. Up four cents, or 2.72 per cent, to $1.51 on 6.1 million shares.
Bombardier Inc. (TSX:BBD.B). Aerospace. Down four cents, or 1.13 per cent, to $3.51 on 6.04 million shares. The Montreal-based company is moving some of its human resource jobs to Mexico as part of 1,700 layoffs recently announced at its aerospace division. It said 10 non-union positions in Montreal will be affected by shift of talent acquisitions and some global mobility functions to its lower-cost operations in Queretaro…

Transcripts show Fed at times slow to grasp crisis
WASHINGTON (AP) — The Federal Reserve agonized in 2008 over how far to go to stop a financial crisis that threatened to cause a recession and at times struggled to recognize its speed and magnitude.
The Fed on Friday released hundreds of pages of transcripts covering its meetings during 2008 — the most tumultuous period of the crisis. This includes the government takeover of mortgage giants Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, the fateful decision to let investment bank Lehman Brothers collapse and the bailout of insurer American International Group.
For all its aggressive steps in 2008, the transcripts show the Fed failing at times to grasp the size of the catastrophe. Bernanke and his top lieutenants often expressed puzzlement that they weren’t managing to calm panicky investors.

STRATFORD, Conn. – The company that manufactures Black Hawk helicopters said Friday it is eliminating 600 jobs, most of them in Connecticut, as it struggles with cuts to U.S. defence spending and a reduction in the demand for the workhorse aircraft used by the military to strike targets and ferry troops in Iraq and Afghanistan.
The cuts at Sikorsky Aircraft Corp., the Stratford, Conn.-based subsidiary of United Technologies Corp., will take place over the next several weeks, spokesman Paul Jackson said.
“These decisions are always difficult to make but necessary to protect the company’s competitiveness and future,” Jackson said.
Sikorsky is feeling the impact of reduced military spending due to budget cuts and a scaled-back U.S. presence in Afghanistan. Last month, Chief Financial Officer Greg Hayes said sales of the Black Hawk had fallen about 20 per cent year over year.
Revenue and profit at Sikorsky have fallen in each of the last two years. Revenue in 2013 was $6…
