New centre will allow retailers to share information about cybercrimes, potential threats
– canadianbusiness.com
NEW YORK, N.Y. – Some of the country’s largest retailers are banding together in hopes of protecting consumers’ personal and financial information from hackers and thieves.
The Retail Industry Leaders Association, along with several top retailers ranging from Gap Inc. to Walgreen Co., on Wednesday launched an intelligence sharing centre focused on the prevention of cybercrimes against retailers.
RILA says the centre will allow retailers to share information about data breaches and potential threats and also inform members of law enforcement and industry analysts.
Other participating retailers include Nike Inc., Lowes Cos. and Target Corp., which was hit with a massive data breach at the height of last year’s holiday shopping season. The incident touched millions of Americans who shop at the retailer’s stores and shined a spotlight on the growing problem of cybercrime.

Ultimate Sustainable Dividend Portfolio – May 2014 Update – New Record!!
– IntelligentSpeculator.net
In September 2011, I did some in-depth research to find long term sustainable dividend stocks and have been doing updates on this Ultimate Sustainable dividend portfolio since then in the attempt to show how well such a portfolio can perform over the long term. I would personally say that things have been going very well and will certainly continue to evolve. I do have a few more things planned which I will discuss in the near future. The USDP is obviously a critical part of my now very public quest to replace my job income with passive income. you can see my most recent update here.
The past month has been a great one with the overall markets doing very well. I’ll also be trading for the USDP in the coming days and have more about that later in this post. I’ll be looking for 1-2 new stocks and will be going through the process in the newsletter in the next few days.

US jury finds Hyundai responsible for crash that killed 3, orders $240M in punitive damages
– canadianbusiness.com
POLSON, Mont. – A jury has ordered Hyundai to pay $240 million in punitive damages after finding that a manufacturing defect in a Hyundai vehicle caused a crash that killed two cousins in July 2011.
Lake County jurors late Tuesday awarded actual damages of $1 million to each parent and $500,000 to each sibling of 19-year-old Trevor Olson and 14-year-old Tanner Olson, who died in the head-on crash. Jurors also ruled Trevor Olson’s estate should receive $2.6 million for lost earnings.
It’s unclear if the punitive damages will stand. Montana has a $10 million cap on such damages, but that’s being challenged after a District Court judge in Butte ruled it wasn’t high enough to deter future wrongdoing by wealthy companies.
Hyundai Motor America released a statement Wednesday saying the verdict was mistaken and it planned an immediate appeal.
