The U.S. stock market edged further into record territory on Thursday as traders were encouraged by the latest corporate earnings.
The Dow Jones industrial average rose 69.94 points, or 0.4 per cent, to 17,554.47.
The S&P 500 index gained 7.64 points, or 0.4 per cent, to close at 2,031.21
The Nasdaq composite gained 17.75 points, also 0.4 per cent, to 4,638.47.
For the week:
The Dow is up 163.95 points, or 0.9 per cent.
The S&P 500 index is up 13.16 points, or 0.7 per cent.
The Nasdaq is up 7.73 points, or 0.2 per cent
For the year:
The Dow is up 977.81 points, or 5.9 per cent.
The S&P 500 index is up 182.85 points, or 9.9 per cent.
The Nasdaq is up 461.88 points, or 11.1 per cent.
