Chinese energy company CEFC acquires majority 59.97 pc stake in Czech club Slavia Prague
– canadianbusiness.com
PRAGUE – Slavia Prague says CEFC China Energy Company has acquired a majority 59.97 per cent stake in the oldest Czech football club.
Slavia, in financial trouble in recent years, says the change is meant to ensure a quick financial stabilization of the club and its long-term development.
In a statement on Friday, the club says Fly Sport, a company owned by Czech businessman Jiri Simane, has a 39.97 stake.
Former Czech Transport Minister Ales Rebicek was the previous owner of Slavia.
The move was announced after CEFC recently bought two palaces in Prague, and increased its stake in the Czech-Slovak J&T Finance Group.

Northeast Florida seems boom in demand for longleaf pine, pulp and other timber products
– canadianbusiness.com
LIVE OAK, Fla. – The towering grove of century-old longleaf pines surrounding Roger Ward’s family home is a rare site in this verdant swath of north-central Florida — most pines here are cut and processed for profit as soon as their 15-to-18-year growth cycle is complete.
The demand for timber worldwide is booming and this remote section of Florida, along with other timber-growing regions of the southeastern U.S., are benefiting. Dozens of lumber mills and pine straw, bark and wood pellet processing plants have sprung up in north Florida to take advantage of the unique soil composition, lengthy growing season and warm, moist climate in which pine trees thrive.
In a state where undeveloped real estate quickly gives way to neighbourhoods, strip malls, hotels or amusement parks, this timber-rich part of Florida is unique.
Ward jokes that the acres of tall pines constituted his college fund and his parents’ 401k. The family’s fortunes have long been linked to the rise and fall of the timber market…

Why you should renovate before you sell
– moneysense.ca

For many Canadians, their home is their largest and most important investment, so when it comes time to sell, they want to make sure they receive the best possible return. While some renovations improve the enjoyment we get from our home, others just make good financial sense. Here are some of the best improvements you can make before you sell to ensure you maximize the market value of your home:
Paint
This is one of the most affordable upgrades any homeowner can do. Nothing refreshes a room quicker than a new coat of paint. If you’re selling in the near term, choose neutral colours. White or cream are timeless and make rooms appear larger and brighter. Make sure everything gets a fresh coat, including ceilings, trim and doors. If you only paint the walls, you’ll be surprised how dingy everything else will appear in comparison.
Return on Investment: 107%*
Flooring
Floors can receive a heavy beating so make sure you spend a portion of your budget here. Repairing worn floors and shampooing or replacing carpets are easy and affordable ways to quickly improve any room in your home…
