Homeowners helping ConservativesConservative Leader Stephen Harper speaks to supporters while campaigning Tuesday, September 22, 2015 in Winnipeg. Ryan Remiorz/CP
Co-opting popular brands to amplify one’s public image is a time-honoured practice among stumping politicians. By this point of every campaign, the floors of Tim Hortons coffee shops are worn thin by the feet of photo-opping candidates—especially in battleground ridings—while the chest of every leader has borne the crests of at least a couple of local NHL teams.
More novel, though, are moments when a party and a non-political entity combine forces in a kind of mutual branding effort, as the Conservatives did on Monday with Home Hardware stores. At the company’s semi-annual trade show in St. Jacobs, Ont., dealers and owners from the chain’s 1,100 outlets welcomed Stephen Harper to a stage where Conservative campaign colours shared backdrop space with the company’s iconic “HH” logo. When the PM began talking up his party’s proposed permanent home-renovation tax credit, they whooped with approval…

Only 7 Days Left to transfer Amex Membership Rewards Points to British Airways with a 25% bonus There are only 7 days left to take advantage of this offer!!!This is one of the offers I look forward to especially since the base transfer rate to British Airways is 1:1. What does this mean? Well you can redeem for my too often mentioned YYZ-NYC roundtrip flight for only 7,200 Membership Rewards points as that flight can be had for 9,000 Avios* (or as little as $3,600 in spending on the Amex Gold Rewards Card), I believe no other card can match that little of spending for that flight! See other short haul options in our post “How to get select Canada to U.S. award flights faster by utilizing British Airways’ Executive Club”You can find out more about the transfer bonus here (ends Sep 30). Personally I still haven’t transferred  points over but will be by Monday as I work out how much I want to transfer (I mean I still haven’t used the Diners Club Points I transferred to Avios last year with a bonus, too much flying on AC and WS I guess!)Related: Earn 2.5 British Airways Executive Club Avios on Gas, Grocery, Drug Store and Travel Purchases Here are the best two cards for earning Membership Rewards Points:American Express Gold Rewards Card• Earn a Welcome Bonus of  25,000 Membership Rewards® points – our HIGHEST Gold Rewards Card offer – just by making $500 in purchases in the first three months of Cardmembership…

MIAMI – Republican presidential candidate Marco Rubio wants employers to get a tax credit if they offer employees paid family leave.
The Florida senator will introduce his plan Friday when he speaks in Washington at an annual gathering of social conservatives, the Values Voter Summit.
Under his proposal, Rubio would give businesses a 25 per cent tax credit for providing at least four weeks of paid family leave. It would be limited to 12 weeks of leave and $4,000 per employee.
Federal law allows workers to up to 12 weeks of unpaid time off without losing their jobs to recover from illness or care for a new child or sick family member.
