Awesome new Amex Offer for Marriott Bonvoy cards – 5,000 bonus points for every $2,000 spend (25,000 bonus points max)

Thanks to Rewards Canada contributor Jeff W. for alerting us this morning to this amazing new Amex Offers offer that came out for the Marriott Bonvoy™ American Express® Card: For the next 5 months cardmembers who are targeted for this offer (and it looks like a good portion of them are!) will earn 5,000 bonus Marriott Bonvoy points for every $2,000 spent on the card. The bonus can be earned up to 5 times. That means if you spend $10,000 on the card in this time period you’ll earn 25,000 bonus points. The bonus equates to an additional 2.5 Marriott Bonvoy points per dollar spent. The card’s base earn rate is 2 points per dollar so that will mean you are earn 4.5 points per dollar spent but if you throw some Marriott stays in that time those earn 5 points per dollar meaning you’ll actually be earning 7.5 points per dollar spent! We also see the return of the Direct Energy offer. We received it on our Platinum, Cobalt and Bonvoy Cards. Back in February we started off our 2021 series of looking at new hotels opening in Canada with what Marriott has planned and one of those nine hotels slated for this year has opened early! The Fairfield Inn & Suites Orillia was originally set to open on April 8 but it appears to have actually opened up this past weekend!Recommended reading: Marriott’s New Hotel Openings in Canada for 2021 – 9 hotels in the works including the W Toronto & Humaniti Hotel Montreal To celebrate the opening the hotel has a grand opening offer that awards 5,000 bonus Marriott Bonvoy Points per stay until the end of April. Learn more about and book this offer here.Here’s a look at a one night stay next week on April 8:$99 for a one night stay where you will earn 5,000 bonus points which are worth $50! And that doesn’t include your base points or points from your credit card. That’s a good deal but there may be a deal breaker and that is Ontario’s lockdown that will come into effect on Saturday. I can’t find details as to whether hotels are affected by it but in any case I would hope that the hotel extends this bonus offer beyond the end of April due to this lockdown…
