Labour Market Recovery – The Numbers Aren’t Clear
In the review, the BoC calls to task the incomplete data on which employment numbers are based, stating labour recovery in Canada has been “moderately” overstated while in the U.S. the recovery has been “significantly” overstated. It stresses that a broad range of factors should be considered when assessing the state of the labour market – not just the rate of unemployment.
