CALGARY – Agrium Inc. (TSX:AGU) has reported a 48 per cent year-over-year decline in fourth-quarter profits as overall sales fell six per cent, mainly as a result of downtime at its Vanscoy potash facility and Redwater nitrogen plant.
The Calgary-based fertilizer producer and marketer says fourth-quarter net earnings were US$51 million or 33 cents per share, down from US$99 million or 66 cents in the same 2013 period.
Sales revenue fell by US$162 million to US$2.7 billion from just under US$2.9 billion.

ATLANTA – Home Depot is announcing an $18 billion share repurchase program and boosting its quarterly dividend by 26 per cent.
The Atlanta home improvement store said Tuesday that its buyback replaces a prior authorization.
Its dividend will now be 59 cents per share. The dividend will be paid on March 26 to shareholders of record on March 12.
The Home Depot Inc. also reported a fiscal fourth-quarter profit of $1.38 billion, or $1.05 per share, for the period ended Feb. 1.
Revenue was $19.16 billion.
