Today Bill shares with us the details of the recent change in Air Miles Reward Miles accumulation at Shell stations in Canada and tips on how to combat this change to earn more miles on your gas purchases.Shell recently and quietly changed the Air Miles collection guidelines when filling up with gas.  The old earn rate was 1 Air Miles Reward Mile for the first $20.00, then 1 mile for each $30.00 thereafter in the same transaction. We just learned that a card featured in our top 5 sign up bonuses for February will be ending in four days! The Scotiabank Gold American Express Card will be reverting back to its standard 15,000 Point bonus with an annual feee as of March 1st. If you have not jumped on this card yet now is the time to do so as you’ll get 20,000 points when you reach $1,000 in spending in the first three months. PHOENIX – The Arizona Legislature wants to help Apple Inc. by extending renewable energy tax credits and exemptions to cover the 1.3-million-square-foot data centre it plans to open in the Phoenix suburb of Mesa.
The House approved a bill Tuesday that expands a $5 million sales tax credit passed last year to include international operations centres that make a capital investment of $1.25 billion, such as the facility Apple plans to build next year.
The House swiftly debated the bill and passed it 57-3 after amending it to match the Senate version. That will allow a speedy trip to the governor’s desk when the Senate acts. Two Republicans and one Democrat voted against the bill.
To qualify for the sales tax credit, Cupertino, California-based Apple would have to invest at least $100 million in new renewable energy facilities and use some portion of that energy to power its data centre.
The bill by Sen. Bob Worsley, R-Mesa, also exempts Apple’s facility from sales taxes on electricity or natural gas, resulting in a $1…

Want a lower credit card rate?Think your credit-card interest rate is carved in stone? Think again. A new survey by CreditCard.com found that 65% of those who ask for a lower rate, get it. If you have an account in good standing, a request for a lower rate is often approved, says Debbie Gillis of K3C Credit Counselling in Kingston, Ont. “I also recommend that if someone’s interest rate increased due to late payments, they ask the credit card company to consider returning to the previous interest rate after six months of consistent payments.” As for having a fee reversed, there’s no harm in asking. The worst that can happen is they’ll just say no.
