Amex Membership Rewards 25% Bonus when transferring to British Airways Executive Club
– RewardsCanada.ca
It’s been over 2 years in the making! Too many email and blog comments to count with people asking when it will return. Well it has returned! A transfer bonus from American Express Membership Rewards to British Airways Executive Club! American Express has been telling me for a few months that it would be back and they kept their word! Sure this time it is only a 25% bonus which is less than the last bonus of 50% that was seen in March of 2013 but it is better than not getting a bonus! The offer runs until September 30th!This is one of the offers I look forward to especially since the base transfer rate to British Airways is 1:1. What does this mean? Well you can redeem for my too often mentioned YYZ-NYC roundtrip flight for only 7,200 Membership Rewards points as that flight can be had for 9,000 Avios* (or as little as $3,600 in spending on the Amex Gold Rewards Card), I believe no other card can match that little of spending for that flight! June 26 Update: American Express transfer bonus to British Airways returns, Amex bonus miles for AC Rouge flights to LAS, HNL or OGG, Air Canada route flashback
– RewardsCanada.ca
Great news out of American Express today! News, Tips & Tricks Great news from American Express today! We finally see a transfer bonus from Membership Rewards to British Airways Executive Club. Until Sep 30 you’ll receive 1.25 Avios for every 1 Membership Rewards point. This isn’t like the 50% bonus we’ve seen from years past but something tells me there is a glut of Membership Rewards points sitting in people’s accounts right now who have just been waiting for this bonus. I would also wager a guess a lot of those points come from the American Express refer a friend program. If it wasn’t for the American Express referral bonus there would be a lot less frequent flyer blogs, travel and financial blogs delving into the loyalty space in Canada right now and less people promoting the cards in their signatures on forums. So while some might whine that the bonus is only 25% I look at it this way: without the referral bonus, perhaps you would only have 50,000 Membership Rewards Points to transfer and if the bonus was 50% you’d get 75,000 Avios…
