Need a change? A family-run business in Cape Breton, N.S., is recruiting candidates to live and work year round in the rural town of 900 inhabitants. If you’re a cook, baker or customer service rep, Farmer’s Daughter Country Market in Whycocomagh, N.S. needs you. There are four jobs being offered that pay $11 an hour and come with two free acres of land. It’s off the grid but has great cell reception. About 50,000 applications have been received so far but even if you don’t qualify for the land, you can buy a half-acre lot with water, sewer and high-speed Internet, on Bras d’Or Lake for just $21,000—not quite free, but pretty darn close.
