They have announced that as of Oct 31 members will no longer be able to earn miles on their purchases at Rexall. While the earning may have be relatively minor I am sad to see this partner go. There have been some great bonuses (remember the 800 miles for Adidas body wash?) and it was a good location to use for past Earn Your Wings promos (I still have some of the Rexall $1.09 bandage packages floating around from that promotion) plus at my most convenient shopping area in my community I used to have three places to earn Aeroplan miles, now that is down to one as Sobeys switched to Air Miles, Rexall is done in two weeks which only leaves me with Esso. CUPERTINO, Calif. – Apple Inc. is expected to unveil new iPads at an event Thursday, as the company tries to drive excitement amid slowing demand for tablet computers. Apple may also announce a new Mac operating system and possibly new Mac computers. Watchers also await a possible launch date for Apple Pay, the company’s new system for using iPhones to make credit and debit card payments at retail stores.
As usual, Apple isn’t disclosing what it plans to reveal at its headquarters in Cupertino, California, this afternoon. Invites to its event carried the cryptic message, “It’s been way too long.”

The sensor would let people use a fingerprint instead of a passcode to unlock the device and authorize Apple Pay purchases…

iStockTORONTO – A new report suggests that Canadian homeowners are paying down their mortgages faster than they’re being given credit for.
CIBC deputy chief economist Benjamin Tal says homeowners are taking advantage of record-low interest rates to accelerate their mortgage payments, and shorten their amortization periods.
The CIBC World Markets study says that homeowners are paying an additional $11 billion a year in principal that isn’t being officially recognized by the Bank of Canada.
It suggests that an estimated 30 to 40 per cent of households with mortgages are accelerating their payments. While 40 to 50 per cent of borrowers are estimated to have amortization periods of less than 20 years, rather than the standard 25 years.
Tal says that means the debt-service ratio in the Canadian mortgage market — what it costs to carry a mortgage as a share of disposable income — is 7.3 per cent, one point higher than the 6.3 per cent officially used in calculations by the Bank of Canada…
