News, Tips & TricksEarlier today we posted the news about Aeroplan becoming the latest Rocketmiles partner where you can earn thousands of Aeroplan miles on your hotel bookings. We went back to Aeroplan with one more question, do miles awarded via Rocketmiles count towards Distinction status and the answer is yes!! We can confirm now that this is also the case for the Canadian version of The Platinum Card as letters have and are being sent out to cardholders about the change. As you know we have provided tons of coverage on the third party hotel booking site Rocketmiles.com here on Rewards Canada and on FrequentFlyerBonuses.com. Up until today the programs included really only worked for some Canadian’s as their partners have been U.S., European or Middle East based. All of that changes today as Rocketmiles adds Aeroplan as a partner! This is great news for us Canucks looking to earn more Aeroplan miles (we all know we need more for those International Business Class redemption that have kept creeping up!) so this is an exciting new way to do it. Of course, due diligence is required to compare rates via other booking sites versus Rocketmiles and also you need to take into consideration that most rates booked via Rocketmiles will not earn hotel loyalty program points or qualify to elite status requirements for those hotel programs. However for those stays that you need to make at hotels that are either not part of your primary frequent guest program or at ones that do not have a loyalty program, booking via Rocketmiles…
