Less than a week left to get the increased welcome bonuses on the BMO Rewards World Elite Mastercard and BMO Rewards Mastercard
– RewardsCanada.ca
Yesterday we let you know that the increased welcome offer for the BMO Rewards® Business Mastercard® is coming to a close in just under a week. Well we also received notice from BMO that two of their other BMO Rewards cards will also be seeing decreased welcome offers. Both are the consumer Mastercards – the BMO World Elite™* MasterCard®* and the BMO Rewards® MasterCard will be seeing their current offers of 40,000 points and 15,000 points being decreased as of March 2nd. The BMO World Elite Mastercard will retain a first year annul fee waiver but will drop down to 30,000 points from the current 40,000 broken down as 25,000 after you spend $3,000 plus 5,000 more points on your card anniversary date. The no annual fee BMO Rewards Mastercard will see it’s bonus cut from 15,000 points to 10,000 points. Ideally if you have been planning to grab either one of these cards you’ll want to do so by March 1st so you can earn those additional points. Remember as well the upcoming change to the BMO Rewards program that sees travel redemptions going from 140 points for $1 to 150 points for $1…New enhanced offer for the WestJet RBC World Elite Mastercard – up to 450 WestJet dollars and a $0 companion voucher
– RewardsCanada.ca
WestJet just sweetened the pot on their WestJet RBC World Elite Mastercard by taking a direct line of attack on Air Canada. Now WestJet is offering a limited time promotional voucher that is just like the Buddy Pass that is being offered on several Air Canada Aeroplan co-brand credit cards. And to make things even better their keeping the current welcome bonus of 450 WestJet Dollars as part of the deal!New cardholders who apply and are approved for the card will receive a companion voucher where you will only have to pay the taxes, fees and charges on economy class bookings for WestJet flights in Canada, to the U.S., Caribbean or Mexico. That means the majority of WestJet’s network is covered by this voucher. The only destinations not included are their Transatlantic routes to Europe. Cardholders can also choose to use the voucher for premium or Transatlantic bookings and pay the standard $119 to $399 fee. The voucher must be used within one year of card open date which is the same rule that we have become accustomed for the regular vouchers that comes on this card…You may be able to claim these commonly overlooked medical expenses on your tax return
– moneysense.ca
Whether you do your own taxes or enlist professional help, you want to avoid leaving money on the proverbial table. Yet, a number of medical expenses are commonly overlooked by taxpayers when filing their tax returns.
Medical expenses may be eligible for a federal non-refundable tax credit on your tax return. To be eligible, expenses must exceed a limit of 3% of your net income, subject to a maximum threshold of $2,397 for 2020 (applies to income of $79,900 and above). Provincial and territorial non-refundable tax credits have maximum thresholds ranging from $1,637 to $2,503.
Here are some common medical expenses you may be able to claim on your 2020 income tax return:
Health plans
Premiums you pay for medical and dental plans, as well as the out-of-pocket (co-pay) portion of medical expenses submitted to the plan are eligible. Premiums paid by payroll deduction may be reported on your T4 slip in the “other information” section in box 85 or on your final pay stub for the year.
Gluten-free products
For those with celiac disease, the incremental cost of gluten-free products for that person (not their whole family) is a medical expense…
