New Wells Fargo CEO to employees: ‘We’re sorry’
– canadianbusiness.com
NEW YORK, N.Y. – Newly appointed Wells Fargo CEO Tim Sloan told employees Tuesday that he is “sorry for the pain” that the bank’s employees have suffered as a result of the company’s sales practices scandal.
Sloan’s company-wide speech, given Tuesday in Charlotte, North Carolina, is the latest effort by Wells Fargo’s executives to atone for the fact that the bank’s employees, pushed to the limit by impossible sales goals, opened as many as 2 million bank and credit card accounts without customers’ authorization.
In the speech, Sloan acknowledged that the bank did not respond to the problems in its branches soon enough and that upper management dodged responsibility for the bad behaviour and wrongly placed blame on branch employees. Wells fired roughly 5,300 employees as a result of the scandal, the vast majority of them lower-level workers.
“Many felt we blamed our team members. That one still hurts, and I am committed to rectifying it,” Sloan said…

The Rewards Canada family has enjoyed tripsto San Francisco, Maui, and many more placethanks to the American Express Gold RewardsCardIf you have followed Rewards Canada for at least a year or more you’ll know that when it comes to us earning and using points and miles, it typically revolves around our family. Many other frequent flyer blogs out there are focused on travel for one or two people. They make it look easy and yes, when you only need to find first class seats for one person or get a suite at a hotel for a couple, frequent flyer and frequent guest programs can be very rewarding. However when it comes to families, you often have to look at how reward programs will work for 4 or 5 people and in some cases even more! Earning 50,000 miles in a frequent flyer program may get you two flights but what about the other two or three people in your family? What if there are other rewards or experiences that can make more sense? This is where proprietary credit card rewards programs and hybrid credit cards come in handy and should be the main focus in a family’s reward portfolio…October 25 Update: Podcast #5 is out now, Air France Flash Sale for Asia Travel, 8 new bonuses
