Asian stocks down as jitters over sliding oil price offset another month of strong US hiring
– canadianbusiness.com
BEIJING, China – Asian stock markets were mostly lower Monday as worries about the slide in the oil price offset another month of strong hiring in the U.S.
KEEPING SCORE: The Shanghai Composite Index lost 2.1 per cent to 3,215.77 and Seoul’s Kospi shed 0.2 per cent to 1,920.31. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng gained 0.1 per cent to 23,941.10 while Australia’s S&P/ASX 200 dropped 0.8 per cent to 5,424.70. Markets in Southeast Asia were lower. Tokyo was closed for a public holiday.
