However, the name is misleading, and many people still don’t understand how TFSA limits and contribution rules work. Here’s everything you need to know about TFSAs.
A TFSA is a registered plan that allows people 18 or older with a valid Social Insurance Number (SIN) to save a certain sum of money each year without paying taxes on the earnings. You can use your TFSA for more than just savings despite the name.
You can invest in mutual funds, stocks, bonds, guaranteed investment certificates, and more. Although you don’t get a tax break when you contribute, you won’t pay any taxes on capital gains.
