On the surface of things, Lindsay Tithecott would seem the financial envy of most millennials. The 29-year-old engineering consultant from Kamloops, B.C., earns $71,000 annually, owns an affordable $150,000 condo and already has $46,000 of investments amassed in her RRSP and TFSA. To be sure, Lindsay’s very proud of her accomplishments: “I’m saving 20% of my salary and my housing costs are just under 30% of my income, which is nearly unheard of in B.C.” There’s just one problem: Her spending surpasses her income every month, and she’s piling up significant consumer debt. Right now, Lindsay owes $11,000 on her line of credit as well as a separate $15,000 car loan. “I try so hard to achieve financial balance in my life, but it doesn’t seem attainable,” she says. “I don’t understand what I’m doing wrong.”
Lindsay feels she has her savings under control, noting that she’s currently socking away $400 a month to her TFSA and $220 a month to her RRSP (an amount her employer matches) to achieve her goals…

MONTREAL – Bombardier’s stock price collapse cost its controlling family hundreds of millions of dollars last year even as they collectively spent some $50 million to increase their stake in the embattled transportation company.
Most of the loss was felt by four senior members of the Bombardier and Beaudoin family, who are the company’s largest shareholders, according to a regulatory filing issued Friday ahead of Bombardier’s annual meeting April 29.
J.R. Andre Bombardier, Janine Bombardier, Claire Bombardier Beaudoin and Huguette Bombardier Fontaine indirectly control 249 million class A multiple voting shares and 30.2 million class B subordinate voting shares.
The Montreal-based company’s shares (TSX:BBD.A, BBD.B) lost more than 60 per cent of their value last year, with the A shares ending 2015 at C$1.49 and B shares at C$1.34, down from about C$4.13 and C$4.15 respectively.
Five family members who sit on the board of directors collectively lost US$200 million…

NEW YORK, N.Y. – A former chief financial officer of a New Jersey-based maker of children’s furniture and an affiliated Indiana company pleaded guilty Friday to conspiracy charges, admitting that he faked his companies’ financial conditions to score $18 million in business loans.
Norman D’Souza, 50, of Monmouth Junction, New Jersey, conspired to get $17 million in loans illegally from a Manhattan bank and $1 million in municipal loans from Gas City, Indiana, prosecutors said.
He told U.S. District Judge Ronnie Abrams that the owner of Munire Furniture Inc. told him beginning in 2011 to inflate sales and revenue numbers so the company could borrow more money to survive a difficult period. The company distributed baby cribs, dressers and other furniture to stores such as Babies R Us and Burlington Coat Factory.
In 2010, Munire Furniture and Indiana politicians announced that the company would open an Echelon Furniture manufacturing facility in Gas City that would employ up to 350 people…
