NEW YORK, N.Y. – Thasunda Duckett became the CEO of JPMorgan Chase’s consumer banking division in late September, becoming the first African-American to hold that job at the nation’s largest bank by assets.
Duckett, a mother of four, spoke to The Associated Press about how she started her career and what role she tries to fill as a mentor and how she tries to balance work and personal life in her new job.
Q: How’d you get your start in banking?
I got into banking through a program called Inroads. It’s a program that prepares minorities for corporate and community leadership. Germany’s diesel probe now includes VW board chairman(AP Photo/Michael Probst)
BERLIN — Volkswagen says German prosecutors have widened their investigation of the emissions scandal to include the chairman of the company’s board of directors.
Hans Dieter Poetsch was VW’s chief financial officer when the company’s scandal over cars rigged to cheat on U.S. diesel emissions tests broke in September 2015.
Volkswagen said in a statement Sunday that prosecutors in the German city of Braunschweig are now investigating three members of the board including Poetsch.
Prosecutors were already investigating former Volkswagen CEO Martin Winterkorn and VW brand chief Herbert Diess over allegations they didn’t inform investors soon enough.
VW said “based on careful examination by internal and external legal experts,” the company reaffirms its belief that board members fulfilled their disclosure obligation under Germany’s capital markets law.

BERLIN – German prosecutors have widened their investigation into Volkswagen’s handling of the emissions scandal to include its board chairman, Hans Dieter Poetsch, the company said Sunday.
Poetsch was VW’s chief financial officer when the company’s efforts to rig cars to cheat on U.S. diesel emissions tests became public in September 2015.

VW rejects those allegations.
“Based on careful examination by internal and external legal experts, the company reaffirms its belief that the Volkswagen board of management duly fulfilled its disclosure obligation under German capital markets law,” it said in the statement Sunday.
The company said VW and Poetsch would “continue to give the inquiries by the public prosecutor’s office their full support…
