DES MOINES, Iowa – Hillary Rodham Clinton’s campaign on Sunday defended her donations from Wall Street by saying she worked to help the financial sector rebuild after the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks and sought to address the abuses that led to an economic crisis.
During the second Democratic debate on Saturday, Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders put Clinton on the defensive when he said Wall Street had been the major contributor to her campaigns. “Now maybe they’re dumb and they don’t know what they’re going to get, but I don’t think so,” he said.
Clinton accused Sanders of trying to “impugn my integrity” and said that as a New York senator, she helped New York City’s financial hub rebuild. “That was good for New York and it was good for the economy and it was a way to rebuke the terrorists who had attacked our country,” she said, her voice rising.
On Sunday, Clinton campaign spokesman Brian Fallon elaborated, saying in a statement that her work to help the financial industry rebuild after 9-11 “did not mean she ever hesitated to call out and seek to reform the abuses and excesses that led to the economic crisis…

Be prepared for 4 years of economic disaster. The ecologists want top notch environment protection measures. The aboriginals want ownership on any project regarding the natural resources. That means the investors won’t invest anymore in oil, gas and other extractions. All the new projects from Alberta and Saskatchewan will be on hold as long the Liberals are in power. Harper doubled the amount people can invest under tax free saving accounts. He did it because he observed more and more people put money in RRSP and the CRA collect less and less taxes. Giving people the opportunity to put more money under TFSA increases the tax collection. People might find attractive to invest money after tax under TFSA ( eg stock market ). Trudeau wants to reverse this decision. It’s a stupid idea. Everybody will put money in RRSP. The government will be in much bigger deficit that they think.Trudeau said he will invest in infrastructure to create jobs. Here’s the problem, the infrastructure is needed in the most populated provinces, Ontario for example…

Major Money Mistakes

– myownadvisor.ca

Learn, save, invest and prosper with My Own Advisor.
As part of my weekend reading recently, I found this article by Gail Vaz-Oxlade about 9 money mistakes.  I thought I would take Gail’s quiz and here are my results.

Carrying a balance on credit cards or on a line of credit.

We don’t carry a balance on our credit cards.  We did however dip into our HELOC for a home renovation.  That HELOC will be paid back in a few months.

Letting expenses get out of control.

We review expenses every year to see what we’re paying (i.e., insurance, internet, cell phone, other).  These things will go up over time but they do not exceed our income.

Taking payday loans.

I have never taken one and don’t intend to.

Having no emergency fund.

We have a small emergency fund but not six months in cash, what some financial experts deem is appropriate.  For most working families that would likely mean at least $40k in cash.  I arrived at that number based on average household expenditure so maybe it could be lower, closer to $25k to cover expenses for six months…

TORONTO – Five things to watch in Canadian business this week:
Trudeau on the Road: As part of his first foreign trip as prime minister, Justin Trudeau will attend the G20 leaders meeting in Turkey and the APEC summit in the Philippines. The Liberal leader is expected to push his spending and growth agenda as well as meet U.S. President Barack Obama.
TransCanada Update: Members of TransCanada’s senior executive team will be in Toronto on Tuesday where they will provide an update on the company’s operations and outlook following the U.S. rejection of the Keystone XL pipeline. Many say the company should now focus its efforts on seeking approval for Energy East, which would connect Alberta oilsands crude with refineries and an export terminal on the East Coast.
Grocery Earnings: Wednesday will see results from grocery chains Metro and Loblaw. This past summer, Loblaw announced it was shutting down 52 locations this year in an effort to save up to $40 million in annual operating income…
