Berkshire Hathaway posts profit of $4.01 billion in second quarter

OMAHA, Neb. (AP) _ Berkshire Hathaway Inc. (BRK.B) on Friday reported second-quarter earnings of $4.01 billion.
The Omaha, Nebraska-based company said it had profit of $1.63 per share. Earnings, adjusted for investment gains, came to $1.58 per share.
The conglomerate headed by investor Warren Buffett posted revenue of $51.37 billion in the period.
Berkshire shares have decreased slightly more than 4 per cent since the beginning of the year, while the Standard & Poor’s 500 index has increased nearly 1 per cent. In the final minutes of trading on Friday, shares hit $143.55, a rise of 11 per cent in the last 12 months.
