Cash-back Down Payments Dead Next Week
– canadianmortgagetrends.com
The door is closing on one of the last remaining forms of 100% financing. On June 30, insurers are banning cash-back down payment mortgages. Only a handful of lenders still market these products, and they’re all provincially regulated credit unions. But uncertainty around rates remains, especially as it’s predicted the U.S. Federal Reserve may raise their own rates as early as the end of this year. Doing so would prompt our central bank to follow suit, and will likely impact the bond market.
