Guide to family tax creditsGetty Images
A lot can change in a year—especially when it comes to families and taxes. To make refund season less confusing, we put together a guide to the 2014 family tax credits, including important changes you should note when filing this year.
Family Tax Cut
This new tax cut applies to families with kids under 18 in which one partner earns a higher income than the other. Effective for the 2014 tax year, the higher-income partner can now transfer up to $50,000 of taxable income to his or her partner, which may give the higher earner a tax credit of up to $2,000, depending on the spread between the couple’s income levels.

Mar 9 Update: The Marriott Rewards Premier Visa Card from Chase is not going away, up to 3x Points for Novotel/Sofitel stays in CanadaThe removal of the apply now link on the Chase site causes a stir! News, Tips & TricksThere has been lots of chatter online about the possibility of the demise of the Marriott Rewards Premier Visa Card from Chase Canada. We had Guys Who Travel tweet us asking about it and several other Chase Cards:Rest assured the card is here to stay. True it is not available via Chase Canada’s own website but they have good reasons for that (we cannot divulge why) but it is available via other sites like Marriott itself, us (Rewards Canada!), and other sites like Ratesupermarket etc. As to the other cards not available on Chase’s site (Future Shop and Best Buy) we don’t know the future of these and we may see the Sears Cards change hands at anytime as that relationship is technically over, although Chase can issue the cards until November 2015. Equifax, Experian and TransUnion agree to changes(Shaun Egan/Getty Images)
NEW YORK, N.Y. – The three largest credit-reporting agencies will change the way they handle records in a major revamp long sought by consumer advocates.
People who contest items in their credit reports will receive additional information concerning those disputes, including instructions on what they can do if they don’t like the answer they get. In a bid to increase accuracy, medical debts won’t be reported until after a 180-day waiting period to allow time for insurance payments to be applied.
The agencies agreed to remove from credit reports previously reported medical collections that have been or are being paid by insurance companies.
Equifax, Experian and TransUnion are also honing their focus to better handle disputes with consumers and to help victims of identity theft and fraud.

The three credit reporting agencies will jettison reports on debts that didn’t arise from a contract or agreement with the consumer, such as tickets or fines…

Apple Watch moves Internet out of your pocket
Apple made its case Monday for moving the mobile Internet from your pocket to your wrist.
Time will tell if millions of consumers are willing to spend $350 on up — there’s an 18-karat gold version that starts at $10,000 — for a wearable device that still requires a wirelessly connected smartphone to deliver some of its most powerful features.
But CEO Tim Cook made his case Monday that the Apple Watch is the next must-have device, able to keep people connected to the Internet and serving their information needs all day long, like no other tool has quite been able to do.
