The American Express Aeroplan Reserve Card sees its base earn rate boosted to 1.25 points per dollar spent

Great news for those of you who have the American Express® Aeroplan®* Reserve Card or having been eyeing on getting it! There is a positive change to card that took on April 7 that sees it become more valuable. We were first alerted to it on Twitter by our follower Joshua: And not too long after Amex corporate sent us an email confirming this change.That changes sees the card base earn rate boosted to 1.25 Aeroplan points per dollar spend from the 1 point that the card has been awarding since it re-launched last November. This is a welcome increase for this Ultra Premium Aeroplan Card offering from American Express as the card’s equivalents from TD and CIBC both have had 1.25 points per dollar on non-category bonused spending since their inception. The Amex card does have higher earn rates in several other categories, namely Air Canada purchases but I would believe with the way the travel situation is in Canada right now not many cardmembers are attracted by that earn rate just yet so it makes sense for Amex to provide this permanent boost to the base earn rates for this card…
