AIR MILES Elite Members can earn extra miles for shopping online via AIR MILES Shops
– RewardsCanada.ca
Playing catch up on offer that’s been out for a few weeks now but is still good to the end of this month. Right now through to June 30th, AIR MILES elite members can earn extra miles for shopping online via AIR MILES shops. Onyx members will earn 3x the AIR MILES Reward Miles on qualifying purchases and Gold members will earn 2x the AIR MILES Reward Miles on qualifying purchases. Qualifying purchases tend to be $20 or more with most of the merchants found on AIR MILES Shops. The 2x and 3x miles is awarded on the base mileage earning. For example if a retailer is 1 mile for $20 base but offering 5x miles as a special, the elite member bonus does not double or triple the 5x miles – it is only applied to the base earn rate. Undoubtedly one of the most aspirational flight awards that Canadian points and miles enthusiasts strove for was to redeem Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan miles for flights in business and first class on Emirates. By buying miles during Alaska’s frequent bonus promotions to churning the MBNA Alaska Airlines World Elite Mastercard, you name it, a lot of it was done to fly on Emirates. Well sad news emerged today that this long sought after award option will be coming to an end. As of July 31 the partnership between Alaska Airlines and Emirates will be dissolved. If you have fights booked with Emirates that you planned to credit to Mileage Plan you’ll still earn those miles for any date of travel so long as you booked prior to June 2. If you book from today on you will only earn miles for travel until July 31, 2021.You can also still redeem Mileage Plan miles for travel on Emirates through to July 31. If you already have existing award flights booked on Emirates after August 1st and need to change them those flights will have to be cancelled and rebooked on another Mileage Plan partner…17 Simple Rules to Live Within Your Means
– canadianfinanceblog.com
Whether you are trying to save money, increase cash flow or break the paycheque to paycheque rut, learning to live below your means can be a financial game-changer. Here are 17 simple rules to help you live within your means. These tips are simple but may not be easy. Try not to apply them all at once. Take your time and implement small changes for the most significant results.
Know Your Income
Knowing your net take-home pay will help determine what your spending limits are. Without knowing how much you earn every month, how can you live within your means?
To track your income remember to add in all payment sources, including but not limited to regular employment, freelance work, and side hustles.
Due to the unpredictable nature of cash received from selling used items (online or in a garage sale, for example), you may choose not to include this income at this step. Make a plan to put any unpredictable income towards your money goals, such as retirement savings and credit card debt repayment…

If any card company has it in them to make cards more rewarding it’s American Express and they showed it by flexing their muscles this week. While the two pieces of news cover a wide gamut of American Express cards that makes all of them better, they really make Canada’s Top Travel Rewards Credit Card stand out even more. That card is the American Express Cobalt™ Card – it has already been the best travel card since 2017 and it just got even better this week. The first piece of news was American Express enhancing their Use Points for Purchases redemption rate (essentially cash back) making this card one of if not the best cash back cards in Canada and then revealing their next limited time conversion bonus to their hotel partners.Use Points for Purchases (Cash Back) We start off with the first piece of permanent news – American Express revealed that all Use Points for Purchases will now be 1,000 for $10…
